Kurz Instruments is an American manufacturer of highly specialized flowmeters used in the energy and heavy industry. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Jerome Kurz, the company is located in Monterey, California, and from the beginning has been focused on creating products to address the problem of measurement and monitoring in extremely harsh industrial environments. A wide range of equipment and solutions from Kurz Instruments Inc. is used in applications such as nuclear and coal power plants, incinerators, refineries and petrochemical plants, sewage treatment plants and pulp and paper industry. All products have appropriate certifications and approvals in accordance with the specifications of the application and the market in which they are used. These include ATEX/EX (94/9/EC), CCC, CE, GOST, IECEx, ISO 9001, NAMUR NE43 or Sellafield SIL1.

Kurz Instruments products

The company’s offer is divided into 6 types of devices. The first is  single point insertion thermal flow meters in the form of models 454FTB-WGF ( a model designed for wet gas, condensing gas, and biogas environments) and 454FTB (for industrial gas flow measurements). Another type of flowmeter is a multipoint insertion flow meter model K-BAR 2000B, which uses up to four sensors for measurement redundancy and to ensure accuracy. Further in the catalog, you will find in-line type devices, which are flow meter models 534FTB and 504FTB and 534FTB-CL2 meter dedicated for chlorine gas applications. The most widely represented group of Kurz Instruments devices are portable flow meters used mainly in applications with high temperatures (up to 500°C) as the model 2445 or in harsh industrial environments – model 2444. There is also a standard portable flow meter model 2443, model 2442 dedicated for HVAC applications, model 2441 for laboratories and HVAC, as well as a portable air velocity meter 490-IS Kurz also offers flow computers that work together with flow meters such as series 155 available in 5 versions, customized to the client’s use requirements. The last and most advanced solution offered by Kurz Instruments is an isokinetic sampling system called “Kurz Emissions and Sampling System,” which is part of the CEM (Continuous Emissions Monitoring) system used for taking environmental and process samples in industrial plants and nuclear applications.
